More than a Gym: Discovering Wellness at The Cliffs at Mountain Park
Today’s blog is written by Charlie Kaylor. He is the Mountain in Legacy Lake and Mountain Living. He gives some perspective into the lifestyle he enjoys as a resident of The Cliffs at Mountain Park.
I'll admit it—I don't spend much time in gyms.
Give me a mountain trail, a round of golf, a pickleball or tennis court, or just about anything outdoors, and I'm happy. Fortunately, that's exactly what makes living at The Cliffs so special. Across all seven communities, outdoor recreation and an active lifestyle are part of everyday life. From hiking scenic trails to championship golf, wellness here extends far beyond four walls.
Still, I recently challenged myself to spend more than two hours at the newly renovated Wellness Center at The Cliffs at Mountain Park, and I came away with a completely new appreciation for what it offers.
As I walked toward the oversized wooden entrance doors, I found myself giving a little pep talk.
"Come on, Charlie. You can do this."
The moment I stepped inside, however, any hesitation disappeared. Instead of the typical gym atmosphere, I was welcomed by friendly staff, a relaxing scent, beautiful architecture, and an inviting curved staircase that immediately set the tone.
A Workout Without the Crowds
After storing my belongings in one of the spacious lockers, I headed to the fitness floor. The Wellness Center features an impressive selection of cardio equipment, strength machines, cable stations, and free weights.
Even better? There were only a couple of other members working out.
One couple was from Dallas, Texas, and another member was from Fairfax, Virginia. As a real estate advisor specializing in The Cliffs communities, I enjoy meeting residents from across the country. Many of our homeowners relocate from the Chicago area, the Midwest, Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, Florida, and beyond, all seeking the incredible quality of life found in Upstate South Carolina.
By the time they finished, I practically had the entire fitness center to myself. The classic rock playlist overhead certainly didn't hurt either.
Meanwhile, upstairs, members were participating in a variety of fitness classes, including HIIT, Agility, Balance & Stretching, and Core Blitz. Maybe I'll sign up through the Cliffs Member App one of these days...maybe.
Recovery Matters Too
One of my favorite discoveries was the brand-new sauna tucked inside the locker room.
If you're like me and enjoy recovery after an active day of golf, hiking, cycling, or racquet sports, you'll appreciate this addition. After about ten minutes of warming up, the sauna reaches nearly 180 degrees—perfect for relaxing tired muscles after exploring the mountains or spending a day on the golf course.
The locker rooms are equally impressive, complete with towels, premium toiletries, razors, hair products, and everything needed to freshen up before heading to your next appointment or dinner reservation.
The Perfect Work-From-Home Space
As both a Realtor and someone who works remotely throughout the week, I also appreciated something I didn't expect.
The Wellness Center isn't just a place to exercise—it's a fantastic place to work.
I opened my laptop to respond to buyers considering a move to Greenville, Travelers Rest, and Upstate South Carolina, while also preparing a market analysis for a home in The Cliffs at Glassy.
Whether you prefer the quiet library, the screened porch, or the upstairs balcony overlooking a peaceful pond and the acclaimed Mountain Park Golf Course, there are comfortable spaces to focus while enjoying complimentary coffee, tea, bottled water, fresh fruit, and daily snacks.
It's a thoughtful amenity that reflects how today's homeowners blend work, recreation, and relaxation.
Every Cliffs Community Has Its Own Personality
One of the things I enjoy most about introducing buyers to The Cliffs is helping them discover which community best matches their lifestyle.
The Cliffs at Mountain Park offers exceptional wellness facilities, miles of hiking trails, world-class golf, and easy access to both Greenville and Asheville.
Just a short drive away, The Cliffs Valley features its own distinctive amenities, including an indoor pool, steam room, and additional fitness offerings, while The Cliffs at Glassy is known for its breathtaking mountain views and iconic mountaintop golf course.
Each Cliffs community offers something unique, yet they all share a commitment to exceptional health, wellness, outdoor recreation, and luxury mountain living.
